NETWORK MARKETING LEADS TO DIVORCE!!!
I came home after my first Network Marketing business presentation all excited I manifested the vehicle to my Dreams looked into the mirror and told my self I would never quit or even think about quitting. I would persist until I succeeded…. My next obstacle was my wife I was relatively newly married and had a 1 year old son. I knew that with all my heart that I needed the support of my partner in life however, I could not even imagine the commitment that was needed to succeed. I sat with her and told her that I don\’t need her support but I would love it, I was going to do this and succeed with or without her support. She felt my commitment, my stubborness I was doing it for my DREAMS of our family. She could not say no!!! When I started to travel for business it was not easy leaving her at home with our young kids it was hard on her but I made a promise to her that I would never book a trip more than 7 days and miss any birthdays etc…. For the most part I kept that promise a couple of times due to travel schedules just was not possible. I have witnessed many a divorce in our industry particularly with top leaders and in lieu of high profile Divorces with the Gates and Bezos it is difficult at the best of times to have that balance, here are some reasons why Divorces become an end result in the industry of Network marketing 1) Leaders who had a good to great run of 6 or 7 figure income and then got in to jumping around from company and company trying to regain the income they did in that magical run/financial distress – never attaining the freedom of residual income /financial plan 2) – The 100% support was never given from the beginning and communicated 3) a Family plan of balance. 4) Values of both partners are never communicated and worked on … If you are starting in the industry or you are moving up in rank in your company becoming a 10% income earner your balance in family life will be challenged, many conflicts will come about . Most understand that nothing is more important than family however, when you are driven, when you have fallen in LOVE with your DREAM balance becomes the most difficult thing to accomplish. Suggestions – – Have a serious talk with your spouse, partner like I did share your commitment let them know it\’s important to have their support but you don\’t need it…. – Schedule family time. For example what I did is use my planner from Sunday to Sunday and scheduled my family time with my wife. This was hard to do as I thrived as a spontaneous person but it saved so many Potential conflicts… -travel set a commitment and goal never to be away from home for a certain period and never miss special family events.. Many will say you have to pay the price for success do not make your family pay the price its a simple error in judgement that will catch up to you negatively. – Have a financial plan. What we did is we got to a lifestyle we were comfortable with and invested the rest making more residual income. Many of the toys Network Marketers purchase gets them into trouble as they become losing assets. Most of the time they are purchased to show people they are successful which becomes a simple error in judgement. I saved 10% of my commissions, 10% for my Kids College , put away a percentage for taxes…. we had a 10% fund for fun as a family. Looking back the best investments I made was in the area of exotic family vacations , the countries we visited were FOOD for our marriage and family life.. – Involve your spouse/partner as much as you can even if they don\’t want to be a part of the action part of the business find ways where you can involve them. Every little thing count. – Ask your spouse/partner to write down the top 10 values they have and compare it to yours. This exercise can be a relationship blessing understanding what is important to your spouse/partner. This year my wife and I are celebrating our 33rd anniversary most of them have been in my network marketing career we know nothing else, our marriage has thrived in all ways and I attribute that to the steps I have shared above.
Russian Empire
It\’s September 2009 I just landed in Moscow, Russia, it was my first time in Russia. I did not know what to think about Russia all I knew we were growing a big team in Pre-Launch phase and had several committed leaders. As I was patiently waiting in the customs line I was focused on how Grateful I was to have this upcoming experience… So now it is my turn finally I go up to the window and show my passport…. which has my Russian Visa glued to one of the pages. Suddenly he calls someone and the Gentlemen asks me what I am doing in Russia… I quickly stated I was seeing some friends…. and wanted to see the beautiful city of Moscow plus had some business meetings… He then points to my visa and points to the expiry DATE… OMG it shows that I need to leave in 2 days. My plan with the leaders was to stay for 9 days they were all extremely excited I made this commitment, they were waiting for this trip from me for over a year. Many events planned my schedule was jammed pack. Its an obvious error by the Russian Consulate in Toronto. The officer tells me emphatically, he can\’t extend it and I need to leave Russia in 2 days …. I can\’t believe this, what I am going to do, I made a promise. I have come to learn as a leader you never break your promises, no excuses. I have seen to many times leaders who make promises and break them because at the time they want to tell people what they want to hear. In all cases not following through with your promises will destroy the biggest of teams. When Trust is lost more than likely you can never get it back…. The consequences of this now starts to permeate through my entire being, I know if I leave in 2 days more than likely I will lose this team, if I extend my trip past the visa expiry date there is a great chance I get arrested and thrown into jail. Growing up in North America we all are programmed into believing the Russian state is brutal, so the fear is so outrageous now I need to gather my self and focus on a solution. So I gather my bags and walk out of the baggage department a group of women leaders are there to greet me with flowers and a loud ovation their energy is so infectious, it caused a major scene. I could not help but think , the people all around observing this were all wondering who is this guy getting greeted like this by all these beautiful strong women….. As I get to the Hotel I sit down with the main leader Elena and I tell her my predicament, she responds in her broken English \”Joe you can\’t leave, it will destroy all our work the previous year\”. I ask what will happen to me if I stay passed my visa expiry date. She does not know….. Right then and there I made the choice, I am thinking to myself I made a promise and I will not break it, no excuses, I always follow through. So no matter the consequences I will honour it.. The 9 days were incredible( although it was difficult I tried not to think about the fear of the unknown and believe it was major fear) the team exploded with the help of my European leaders Tomas & Garth who had driven the market with their visits, Russia became a monster for us. No matter what the excuse, no matter how difficult things become, never break your promises to your team…. One of the top 3 leadership reasons organizations fall apart. I have personally witness teams into the 6 figures that have crashed and burned.. Our greatest asset in Network Marketing is our organization, always keep in mind it is very FRAGILE even in the best of times….
Action
I consistently get approached with questions asking for network marketing advice. People ask if they should try a certain strategy old school – new school, how certain leaders become successful, how to build globally, what type of presentation generates the best results, if they should go to that Generic NM event, questions about their website, what I thought about their company etc… I had someone in my team recently design a plan which took him 3 months to complete to get to the top rank in the company. And who are most of these callers? Well many (but not all) fall into one category. They are people who spend time investigating, analyzing, and looking for an easy, cheap way to become an overnight success. They find it easier and safer to stay in a state of continuous investigation to avoid actually doing something to build their business. My advice to many of these callers: Go out and actually do something. Maybe even make your first prospecting presentation. Even if you make 20 more calls investigating network marketing theories, nothing will happen. Okay, I’am not very popular with some of these callers, but I do feel I should at least tell them the truth. What about you? Do you have distributors who do everything except contact prospects? Are they always putting together a new brochure or presentation that will fix all the problems of network marketing? Are they so busy with “busy work” that they don’t have time to recruit? Do they spend hours every day sending e-mails back and forth to people they have never met, and spending too much time on the social sites like facebook with no marketing strategy? Do they focus their time pretending to build relationships with the 800 nameless people they have captured in their autoresponder? What are you going to tell them? Are you going to say: “Nice brochure. You are really accomplishing a lot.” Or, are you going to tell them the truth? Will you say: Go out and actually do something that will build your business. Make a phone call. Meet a live person. Make a presentation. Sign up a new distributor. Can you imagine what your life could look like if you and your team followed this advice? All these years later that is the one thing that I have done well I consistently acted every single day on my DREAMS. Creating Results in your LIFE!!!!
A Couple of years into my Network Marketing career I stumbled upon a defining moment in my business that changed everything I realized instead of gearing my coaching and mentoring in teaching just the basics I started to focus on helping people raise their consciousness. When people in your organization raise their consciousness they will always figure out how to do the rest. When you have a team that is focused on personal development and you build that within your culture great things start to happen. A community of greatness will spread like a wildfire. Here is the challenge in this process is most people habitually are focused in the \”rear view mirror\” which prevents them from growing their Conscious level. It\’s like bending a hose the water will never flow, this is what happens to your success energy if you don\’t break through this destructive habit. Focusing on the way you want your life to be when things are not going your way in the present moment, is not the easiest thing to do. But if you have the determination to focus your attention especially in your business as your want it to be, rather than as it is, your income will change dramatically. When one understands this power of focus on today in the moment you will begin to notice the universe will start to respond to your desires, little coincidences that are not a coincidence appear you will then start to let go of everything and anything that is not part of your new vibration which is your focus/Your DREAM.. I can clearly go back into my life and see life changing moments for me where when I got in this mindset I let go of grudges, mistakes ,ex business partners, complaints, ill wishes, bad behaviour etc… At this point you will start searching for the things that serve you, you will come up with great new ideas, your thoughts will build momentum which will be evidence of the new you!!!! The greatest blessings I have received in my NM career is the number of countries I have visited (more than 50 now) probably have trained into the hundreds of thousands, these experiences have really led me to believe we are here to create as Creations of God and we are definitely worthy of every idea that comes to US. God Does not make JUNK!!! There is no greater creator than you and no greater reason to create than the things you desire in your life. Believe me the closer you get to your \”source\” which expands when you Fall in Love with your DREAM, the Greater Joy you will experience in your Life. So your source your internal guidance system, holy spirit whatever you want to call it will tell you that you are off track by how you feel. My desire and my passion is to help others think enough of themselves to feel good and do whatever it takes to feel good, that way you will have the ability to manifest your DREAM fast despite whatever is happening around you. With every thought you think and with every desire you give birth to the universe expands. And it is only through your joyous quest that all is possible. God Does Not Make Junk!!!! Making 2013 your BEST YEAR EVER!!!
This is one of my older most popular posts and I believe life changing. It is my longest blog post but entirely worth the read, I guarantee you. Enjoy!! How do I make 2013 my best year ever? Around this time of year I am consistently getting this question. To me the question is really easy to answer but probably not what you expected. To make 2013 you need to change your philosophy, change your Paradigm. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” James Allen began his book with that aphorism more than eighty years ago. As a student of the power of thought – I believe the book is more relevant today, than it was when it was first written. In my first number of years in this industry, I used to think the most important things to teach my people were prospecting and training strategies. But I couldn’t understand why after they learned them, they didn’t do something more with them. Then I came to realize that there were all sorts of mental blocks holding them back. Fear of failure, low self esteem, fear of rejection, feelings of unworthiness, and the biggest one–fear of success. I came to understand that to build a large growing network, it was critical to include a personal development program in the equation. So now, I work on helping people discover and put into action their innate personal power. This is what has the potential to transform your business and life. Thus the reason I launched www.steamteam.ca It’s pleasing to your ego to assume your group is not growing because of outside factors and other circumstances. It’s very convenient to blame your lack of progress on your company’s compensation plan, the price of the products, timing, the area you live and a host of other external factors. But the truth is, you are reaping the results of your thoughts. Your suffering is the result of your negative, greedy or lazy thoughts, just as the blessings in your life are the results of your positive, kind and loving thoughts. Just as planting an acorn will grow an oak tree, planting positive thoughts into your subconscious mind will grow you a Great business and a life, of wonder, harmony, happiness and success. It is common for people to think that they will attract what they want. Unfortunately, this is not true. You actually attract what you ARE. And of course, you are what you think about. The whims, desires and even strong passions you have can quite easily be thwarted by the thoughts you have about them. Last month, I ran into a friend who works as a clerk on the graveyard shift. After our conversation I suggested He visited my training site site. I suggested he read the books on the site along with watching some of our webinar training’s. After devouring the site, he mentioned that he was trying to create a vision for the future as I suggested – but all he could see was cracked mirrors. He asked me what I thought would cause that. I replied that the likely causes were watching too much TV (he nodded), reading the daily newspaper instead of positive books (he nodded again), hanging around with negative people (now he’s nodding furiously), or all three. ‘Busted,’ he says. Like a lot of people I know, he wants a better life, and often asks me for advice on how to get it. I used to give these people copies of “As a Man Thinketh” and suggest they read it. I discovered they never found the time. Then I switched to giving them the name, and suggesting they buy it themselves. Most never get it. They spend so much time in thoughts of negativity – being a victim – they don’t release those thoughts and replace them with thoughts of self-improvement. It’s a chicken or egg thing. They don’t buy the book because they don’t have positive thoughts. They don’t have positive thoughts, because they won’t read the book. You will find a lot of parallels in your business. You need to believe you’ll be successful or you won’t be. But you have to believe it before it happens. Most people fail because they can’t keep this positive frame of mind until they actually manifest success. They start out believing it, or at least thinking they do. Then one of their people drops out, a presentation goes bad, or their first guests never show up to the presentation. They don’t realize it then, but this is the absolute turning point of their career… They will see these things as a challenge to be overcome – or an insurmountable obstacle and quit. If they accept it as a challenge, they build character and persevere. Until they get a little success. Which gives them some more positive thoughts – that build their belief – that lead them to their next success – which builds their belief stronger. They are on a win/succeed cycle. More on the subject of Money relating to Network Marketers
One of the Challenges in the Network marketing world is most of our distributors have the wrong mindset when it comes to money. More importantly they are stuck in always thinking small. So let me ask you a quick question. Have you got the mindset for making money? If you do, you\’ll flourish in your business and more likely to earn millions. If you don\’t then you more then likely have a poverty mindset. That means you\’ll continue to struggle in your business, or reach a certain level of income and you seem to never get past that level no matter how hard you try, possibly get into more debt and or have the inability to reach the top levels in your recognition plan. With a poverty mindset you make the wrong choices, never have enough money and watch your bank account continue to shrink. You wonder why you can\’t make more and have more. You are sure you are talented, you are giving more value. When you compare yourself to others that are earning the money you tend to say I am better more skilled then them why then am I not at their level. You think those who have plenty of money are lucky. And you\’re not one of the lucky ones. You believe that maybe you\’re just not meant to have money. That you\’re meant to struggle. And so it gets harder and harder to make more money. This is what a poverty mindset does. It sends the wrong instructions to your subconscious mind. Instead of creating wealth, your subconscious forces you to lose money and continue to struggle. You don\’t want this, but without realizing it you\’ve developed a poverty mindset. Now you\’re used to it. So it gets harder and harder to change things or dream bigger. Habits are hard to unlearn. Goal setting becomes an impossible exercise. Well I have to let you in on a secret this is why the industry of Network Marketing is incredible, it is the difference maker. You don\’t have to struggle anymore with money or your business. You don\’t have to live with a poverty mindset. You can go from having little to having more than you need by dreaming bigger and reaching your goals and achieving the lifestyle you want. Yes you can have more and make more money. And you will… When you have a wealth mindset. When your subconscious mind is focused on making money. When you believe that you can and will have more money. When you get rid of the blocks that prevent you from making and having more money and this is done when you surround yourself with the right environment the right team the right mentors who can help you in this process. Unfortunately most people are not in the right environment the right team thus your default position is you don\’t believe. And if you\’re not making as much money as you want in your biz then you don\’t have your subconscious focused on making money. Instead, your subconscious is focused on making less or even losing money, and focusing on what you don\’t want, the struggles in the biz etc… It keeps creating blocks that stop. And that\’s only because you keep telling your subconscious that you want to struggle. But that\’s not what you want. You\’re just giving your subconscious the wrong instructions. Today I am telling you that you can turn things around. Today you direct your subconscious mind to bring you more money and more wealth by surrounding yourself with the right environment the right team the right mentor. This is the starting point that will allow you to start getting to the conscious level where you are sending the right instructions to your Subconscious. When I first learned this because of my environment I starting to experience that my subconscious was bringing more and more wealth. I learned to give it the right messages on a consistent basis. So how is this done well there are many techniques but the major starting point as a Network Marketer is your environment, when you surround yourself with the right people(the right team – mentor), the people who have the wealthy mindset who are living their dreams, that are walking the talk you will start to become like them, you will start to program your subconscious the right messages. One last tip, I really believed one of the major reasons why I have created an incredible life is when I started in this industry from day one I communicated daily with my mentors particularly my mentors that had the lifestyle I wanted, in many cases I chased them, every chance I had the opportunity to be around them I was there. This insatiable desire to be like them to have the lifestyle they had I knew that the more time I spent with them I slowly would end up thinking like them and thus changing my inside world would lead a dramatic change to my outside world. It is amazing how many business partners over the years that I have worked with that I know were struggling with this mindset, rarely chased me down, rarely took the initiative to communicate with me, frankly based on what I have shared with you in this post is a major error in judgement. Don\’t hide behind the computer if you are struggling, you need to change, you need to communicate more with your mentors chase them even if it is too say hi, be aggressive. Please don\’t take my advice lightly!!!! You are a powerful person. You can have the wealth you want. You can make as much money as you want. Start directing your power today. See you at the Top Joe
What\’s this energy thing about?
One of the most important lessons that i have learned on my Global travels, the thousands of business presentations and training\’s I have done all over the world, the observing of people of all cultures, the teachings of Great Teachers like Bob Proctor, Robert Anthony, Anthony Robbins the Iconic Teachings of Jesus, Budda etc.. is how to have great experiences happen to you on a consistent basis. The higher you vibrate with your energy level (I am not talking about rah rah, I am talking about focusing on what you want, be happy, be respectful, think great thoughts, this raises your energy to the point where you make more money, this is what essentially DREAMING Big Dreams is all about) Money will flow to you easily and effortlessly. But how do you go about raising your energy? In the graph below – 0% represents no energy and 100% represents maximum energy. 0%—————–25%————–50%————–100% If someone is at 0% energy, then they are dead. Unfortunately, many people are living just above 0% energy. How many Prospects have you talked to in the past that fit this level and that you are continuing to chase hoping they will join you in your business? At the other end of the graph, 100% represents the highest positive energy available. As you move up the scale, you will have more of the good things in life because you are vibrating and evolving at a higher level and this only happens through surrounding yourself with the right people – feeding your mind with greatness on a daily basis which leads to greater thoughts and thus great actions and then it leads to greater results. The higher up you move on the scale, the more easily you will be able to attract great things into your life without it being blocked. Your energy level not only attracts money into your life, it attracts everything else, including other people. If you have a very dense or low level of energy, you are going to manifest that same energy you are projecting. In other words, you will attract people and relationships into your life that have the same low level, dense energy. Have you ever seen a depressed and negative person succeed long term. Want more money please read and really pay attention to my words, increase your vibration level you will make more money then you ever thought was possible for yourself. I look at our million dollar earners and very successful people in other industry\’s, you see a pattern of positive attitudes, positive action, positive emotions and thus positive results. Negative attitudes, confrontational attitudes, fear, jealously, unhappy thoughts etc.. is what the masses focus on and thus the reason why they are stuck due to their focus on being wronged by a person or some incident that happened 10 years etc…, consequently they are not moving forward and never will attract abundance and prosperity. Stop right here and think about this because it is a key point to opening the flow of money into your life. When you fully understand this you will see the whole world differently. We can sum it up this way – if you raise your energy level, you will raise your income in your business I promise you. How can I make that promise? Well in June 23 1993 I walked into a meeting room at the Sheraton Hotel in the east end of Toronto, I watched a very successful man after his training, people gravitated to him in droves, just looking at him and watching him there was something different about him, these were my exact thoughts that day. When I figured it out, I understood the secret to his success and all I did at the age of 25 I started to do the same,which led me to a life of great success, prosperity and abundance.
