SCARED TO DEATH!
Its February 1994 and I am 8 months into my Network Marketing career. I was quite proud of myself of what I had accomplished up until then but I was looking for a GIANT QUANTUM LEAP in my business. I was an incredible student doing everything my mentors had told me because I was HUNGRY I was ALL IN 100% my work ethic was up their with the top achievers. I was doing the massive action thing, I was doing the consistency thing, I was reading countless books a month, I was listening to at least an hour a day of personal development, I was attending all local meetings and I personally was doing 1 home meeting a week. But there was still something that I felt I needed to do to experience that GIANT QUANTUM LEAP in my business, I could just feel it. I went to my mentors and each one of them told me I was doing all the right things and over a period of time I will see the GIANT QUANTUM LEAP happen. Although I believed in what they had to say due to my extreme \’WANTING\’ I was in LOVE with my DREAM I knew there was something more that I could do. I went to bed on February 3rd 1994, my extremely pregnant wife asked me for a massage and a thought came to me, why don\’t you ask your subconscious what the missing piece is. So that night before I fell asleep I asked the question. \”What do I need to do to experience this GIANT QUANTUM LEAP?\” I woke up in the morning and the answer came to me. I found that I was still living in my comfort zone with so many things in my life and business. So I decided that day to go knock on doors and sell and recruit. It was something that I would never think of doing. It was beneath me. February 4th was a freezing day I had an excuse not to go out that day but I was committed. I picked a neighbourhood in the next city to mine and I walked to my first house shaking and the door was answered by a woman, I smiled before I got any words out and she asked me to come in. I did my sales pitch, She was nice listened intently but said I will think about it.. Nice way of saying no… Door after Door I experienced massive rejection but something took over with in me I saw a vision of my future… It was incredible day I faced my fears I did not sell anything did not recruit anyone and the experience was incredible rewarding. That day led me to a GIANT QUANTUM LEAP in my business, I realized I could do anything I commit to 100% nothing was going to hold me back. No excuses, no distractions…..100% unstoppable. So my question to you today is what is holding you back from getting out of your Comfort Zone? Building YOUR Business Foundation
Last December 2019 I was in the beautiful city of Trujillo, Peru the first of 4 city\’s on my Peru Road Show events. The local leadership team invited me to visit a buried ancient city Chan Chan that was found in the early 80\’s. The city was the capital of the Chimú kingdom (c. ad 1100–1470) and the largest city in pre-Columbian America. As we walked into the burial tombs where all the Royals of that society were buried. All the Gold, Silver Diamonds, etc. that were buried with the Kings, Queens, and Royal subjects were pillaged by the Spaniards. It was typical behaviour by the Spanish settlers when they found anything that was valuable they would do anything possible to secure the possessions even kill, and then they would send the wealth back home to the mother land Spain… Today Latin America, Mexico to the southern tip of Argentina I believe is still paying the price for this. Let me explain…. When you compare Canada and USA prosperity of its average citizens to Latin America there is a significant difference. It\’s really not logical, they are on the same side of the planet, settled by basically the same people Western Europeans and have similar resources. I believe the difference in the 2 society\’s came when the foundation was created. In Canada and the USA the settlers primarily came here looking for a home this is why we celebrate Thanksgiving where as Latin America the Spaniards and the Portuguese primarily came looking for wealth and they certainly founds lots of it and sent it back home. Today it seems that energy that was created is still permeating in both continents… Keeping this in mind when you start your Network Marketing business or any business in general the energy that you start with will effect your future success or failure. Energy will always permeate for years. I believe 100% because I had fallen in Love with my DREAM then attracted Network Marketing as my vehicle to my Dreams my foundation of my business was unbreakable and it led me to a life of Prosperity and Abundance….. I have seen so many who start for the wrong reasons (bad foundation), or they will try to see if it works, they are looking for wealth, and easy fix to their financial problems etc… It\’s not possible to have a strong foundation in your Business if you have not fallen in Love with your DREAM!!!! Russian Empire
It\’s September 2009 I just landed in Moscow, Russia, it was my first time in Russia. I did not know what to think about Russia all I knew we were growing a big team in Pre-Launch phase and had several committed leaders. As I was patiently waiting in the customs line I was focused on how Grateful I was to have this upcoming experience… So now it is my turn finally I go up to the window and show my passport…. which has my Russian Visa glued to one of the pages. Suddenly he calls someone and the Gentlemen asks me what I am doing in Russia… I quickly stated I was seeing some friends…. and wanted to see the beautiful city of Moscow plus had some business meetings… He then points to my visa and points to the expiry DATE… OMG it shows that I need to leave in 2 days. My plan with the leaders was to stay for 9 days they were all extremely excited I made this commitment, they were waiting for this trip from me for over a year. Many events planned my schedule was jammed pack. Its an obvious error by the Russian Consulate in Toronto. The officer tells me emphatically, he can\’t extend it and I need to leave Russia in 2 days …. I can\’t believe this, what I am going to do, I made a promise. I have come to learn as a leader you never break your promises, no excuses. I have seen to many times leaders who make promises and break them because at the time they want to tell people what they want to hear. In all cases not following through with your promises will destroy the biggest of teams. When Trust is lost more than likely you can never get it back…. The consequences of this now starts to permeate through my entire being, I know if I leave in 2 days more than likely I will lose this team, if I extend my trip past the visa expiry date there is a great chance I get arrested and thrown into jail. Growing up in North America we all are programmed into believing the Russian state is brutal, so the fear is so outrageous now I need to gather my self and focus on a solution. So I gather my bags and walk out of the baggage department a group of women leaders are there to greet me with flowers and a loud ovation their energy is so infectious, it caused a major scene. I could not help but think , the people all around observing this were all wondering who is this guy getting greeted like this by all these beautiful strong women….. As I get to the Hotel I sit down with the main leader Elena and I tell her my predicament, she responds in her broken English \”Joe you can\’t leave, it will destroy all our work the previous year\”. I ask what will happen to me if I stay passed my visa expiry date. She does not know….. Right then and there I made the choice, I am thinking to myself I made a promise and I will not break it, no excuses, I always follow through. So no matter the consequences I will honour it.. The 9 days were incredible( although it was difficult I tried not to think about the fear of the unknown and believe it was major fear) the team exploded with the help of my European leaders Tomas & Garth who had driven the market with their visits, Russia became a monster for us. No matter what the excuse, no matter how difficult things become, never break your promises to your team…. One of the top 3 leadership reasons organizations fall apart. I have personally witness teams into the 6 figures that have crashed and burned.. Our greatest asset in Network Marketing is our organization, always keep in mind it is very FRAGILE even in the best of times….
PERCEPTION = $$$$
DEFINING MOMENT!!!! In 1998 5 years into my NM career I was starting to see my Dreams come true all was good and then the company started to struggle with cash issues which created back orders on products and a plethora of other challenges. So the President of the company decided to have an interactive conference call with all the top leaders to give an insight on what was going on along with the solutions moving forward. By the 30th minute mark I started to wonder if I was on a another \”company\” call, I could not believe the amount of negativity regarding even the smallest of issues. I truly thought that all these other leaders were crazy as their perception on what was going on was so detrimental to their business, to their life… and so totally different to mine. I started to wonder for a brief second if my Perception was completely wrong and I was the crazy one as I certainly was in the minority … 21 years later all these leaders except for me and 1 other person, very talented people who were 6 figure income earners are for the most part no longer in the industry. That is what I call a clue. This was a major Defining moment in my career I could have easily bought into the \”majority\” thought process but I did not, thank God I did not as the universe had even greater abundance and prosperity coming my way . Perception is an interesting concept the way we see things will certainly be a difference maker on what we attract in our business and our life . I never buy into negative opinions especially if they have a dooms day thought process behind it. I only see prosperity, abundance that everything will always work out. In 1998 most of those leaders told me that I had my head in the sand that I was the crazy one. Well time either promotes you or exposes you. Predict your future by seeing only abundance and prosperity and that every challenge every situation is the universe working in perfect order to fulfill your DREAMS.
DISTRACTIONS IS YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY…..
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER IS IT HARDER TO RECRUIT TODAY IN THE INDUSTRY OF NETWORK MARKETING…..? You may think Technology has made it easier to reach out to people, most of us would agree to this. When I first started the industry the 3 ft rule and newspaper advertising were our primary source of leads… Today due to technology there are hundreds of methods to reach out to potential prospects…. Your enemy though in building in today\’s world is DISTRACTION…. Consider these facts…. The Average person in our Society is exposed to 63,000 words of information – On an average day is DISTRACTED by INTERRUPTIONS every 11 minutes and checks their SMARTPHONES 110 Times… DISTRACTIONS IS THE ENEMY OF FOCUS Are you sending your prospects to a recorded business presentation 97% + will never watch through the presentation, particularly if its more than 20 minutes? Are your FB lives more than 15 to 30 minutes 97% + will never watch the entire Live even in the replay… If your company videos are more than 5 minutes and they don\’t capture peoples attention in the first 2 minutes they will become a redundant tool . To succeed in the industry you need to understand DISTRACTIONS ARE KILLING YOUR BUSINESS… Not just for your prospects but you yourself. Are you spending most of your day on FB, Instagram etc.., do you find you are trying to multi task looking at one thing and trying to be productive at the same time…? The Distraction Disease will sneak up to you and it then becomes a way of life…. and it will be hard to let it go… To succeed in prospecting you need to be expose your prospects \”bites\” of information until they get serious about your business opportunity… The work does not stop there even when they enrol it is most important today then any time in the history of this industry you need to help your new distributor to determine their DREAM. It used to be our biggest nightmare in duplication were the DREAM Steelers today it is DISTRACTIONS… Repeat this statement at loud FALLING IN LOVE WITH MY DREAM WILL HELP ME OVERCOME THE DISTRACTIONS DISEASE… YOUR DREAM WILL SET YOU FREE…..
MONEY!!!
I see so much suffering in the world all because of MONEY!!! MONEY to most creates so much anguish so much stress so much negativity that people kill for it, marriages fall apart because of it, people steal because of it, family\’s fight over it when a loved one dies…. Churches close, even doing what most would consider doing the most important of work on this Planet – Gods work – because of lack of MONEY, almost a billion people starve to death on this planet due to the lack of it…… this unquestionably should not happen in this world with so much abundance and prosperity. When I clearly understood how to have a relationship with MONEY the world of Abundance and Prosperity came into my Life.. It\’s taken me awhile to write this, I share some thoughts of the relationship I started to have with MONEY many years ago, guaranteed to help you build this MONEY energy into your life……. Most people think they know me. They don’t. I am not what most people think I am. I am not the paper in your wallet, or the coins that jingle in your purse. I am not quietly sitting in your bank account, hoping to be used one day. You cannot see me, feel me or touch me. I AM AN IDEA. I AM ENERGY. I’m neither good nor evil. I am only what you decide that I am, and I fulfill the role that you create for me. I don’t care how smart you are, where you live, what you do, or where you come from. All I care about is your energy. Your energy decides what thoughts you have, and therefore your thoughts will determine the relationship you have with me. I have very simple needs, and simple rules. I AM INFINITE. I have no limits, except for those you place on me with your mind. There is no limit to the energy in the world, and because I am simply energy, I cannot be restricted or controlled. I crave abundance. I am attracted to those who think without restrictions, who like to think big. When you believe there is enough of me to go around, I am naturally magnetized by that thinking. I despise scarcity. Because there is no limit to me, I avoid those who think from a win/lose or scarcity perspective. Those who believe I am in short supply, or difficult to receive, will find that very reality, because I choose to avoid those who think small. I love value. What magnetizes me most is the creation of value in the universe. I move to places where value is created, because creation is energy. If you wish to attract me into your life, focus on creating value for others, and I will appear. I avoid entitlement and complacency. No one ‘deserves’ to have me, and I am always moving to the place I am most respected and where value is created. It has nothing to do with ‘fair’. Those who take me for granted or become complacent with my energy will find me gone. I only have one job, and that is to serve you. It is a matter of energy and value creation. My purpose is simply to move to where I am attracted most, and where I can grow. My one goal is to replicate myself. Because there is no limit to energy, my purpose is to reproduce and grow, in orderto bring more energy to the universe. I am created and replicated through value creation. I am an energy of evolution. The message for you should be clear. Those who create value for others in the world will find me in their lives. I AM WHATEVER YOU BELIEVE ME TO BE. So what you believe about me can make you miserable, or what you believe canenable you to perform miracles. I’m neither positive, nor negative. I am what you decide I am. If you fear me in any way, I can crush your ability to survive. If you get to know me, I can make your life flourish and your dreams come alive. I can be your master, or I can be your servant. I am only what you make me. So, the relationship we have together will be determined by you. Isn’t it time we got to know each other better? True Authenticity
Authenticty and integrity has become the buzz word of the industry of Network Marketing. Every where you look Facebook lives, blog posts, live events, leaders and distributors alike are sharing their views on being Authentic. In fact I have seen leaders share their views on this topic of Authenticity and integrity and have BDA\’s that blatantly given themselves a different business opportunity than the ones they are selling to the masses… If you don\’t disclose it are you being Authentic or integrity driven? Lets face it, human beings for the most part embellish when they sell. Network Marketing is no different infact its always been a staple of this industry. A well known talk show in the USA did an hour show on this very topic in the industry. I found it very funny due to the fact I realized for the most part it was accurate.. Even at the corporate level you see companies recognize leaders for qualifying at top ranks when if you do a little investigating they were positioned in the organization… About a year ago I was watching a video promo of a new company that launched over a year, the owner was sharing his religious beliefs over and over again regarding Jesus and he must have stated the integrity word at least 10 times in the video… at the same time he was allowing integrity issues involving the compensation plan to happen in his company from day 1.. I am sure he means well but as human beings we tend to view Integrity and Authenticy in many areas of our life sacred but for the purpose of growing a business or increase the bottom line we look at it differently and let it slide…. The paradox of it all Integrity and Authenticity is the key major foundation to building a long term residual income. Its the cause of most organizations and leadership downfall. Today due to technology we cannot hide any longer time will expose you very quickly… So what do you do to be different? It starts with getting people started (which is the most important training in the industry) tell them the truth that average people don\’t make money that if you want to earn a min 6 figure income or full time income you need to learn how to become a 5 % and all 5% are \”ALL IN\”. No need to embelish anymore Network Marketing has revealed itself as self evident. If the luxury cars, big houses are not your thing read the Millionaire next door and you will have an appreciation that you can be you and thrive in this great industry of Network Marketing. Compensation Plans
Compensation plans for the most part are overrated when it comes to building a long term residual income. What is real important though is the culture you build within your company\’s compensation plan. Basically 4 types of plans have dominated the industry – the first 2, I would refer to them as Socialistic plans – Unlevel, Matrix (only 1 company has made it work for more than 10 years). The primary purpose of these plans is too basically help distributors make enough money so their product could be paid from their commissions. The other 2 plans I would refer them to be Capitalistic plans they are the Breakaway MLM plan (Most all the old legacy and pioneers in the industry have this plan) and the Binary plan. Over the last 15 years of Network Marketing majority of the company\’s that have launched have started with the Binary Compensation Plan with a hybrid addition. The biggest reason new companies have decided on the Binary Plan it has the \”Capitalism qualities\” of the Old Breakaway comp plan with regards to paying the top 5%- 10% + the companies that have added the hybrid versions which has some of the socialistic parts of the UniLevel and Matrix plans… Unfortunately though it is a plan that lends it self to developing a poor or weak organizational culture which will lead to the eventual downfall of the company. Most everyone who starts in the Network Marketing industry from a business perspective really was sold on the benefits of residual income and the freedom that comes from this lifestyle . Frankly the Culture of an organization and or a company is critical to this Freedom. We all know if we build a home on a weak foundation that house at the first sign of any major weather adversity will fall down. So keeping this in mind your Business organization future will only grow and stay growing if the foundation is built with the right principles. Now that you have an understanding on why it is so important to have a Strong Foundation lets look at how the Binary compensation plan is critical to this Foundation. As I shared above the Binary Plan really lends itself to absolutely Culture killing long term killing, company killing DO NOT DO\’S… Never allow placements above organizations already built ( this leads to fake integrity killing rank advancements and recognition). How would you feel if someone was placed above you after a year earning off of your organization? Exactly!!!!! How would you feel if you found out your superstar upline who qualified at the top rank in 10 months only built one leg? Of course your respect for her would definitely change. Power Leg Principle – This creates weakness no organization will ever grow long term on weak principles. Strength should always be your #1 Goal. Tell everyone who joins and teach this they need to build 2 legs and treat spiliage as a blessing.. Every other comp plan in the industry forces you to go wide and you rarely get any help. In a Binary all you have to do is build 2 legs, always remind yourself this. Take the Power Leg completely out of your vocabulary and your teams vocabulary. Placing people under people in the Binary for the purpose of getting them excited or enticing them into the business should not be your focus. You should always structure keeping your business in mind, be very clear on how you get paid. You will never be able to help your team unless you help yourself first . There is a reason on a Airplane they teach you in case of emergency always put the Oxygen masks on yourself first before helping someone else….. Probably the next question that most who read this will ask \”What if my company allows special Placements\”? Well all I am telling you with 100% accuracy that eventually it will be the downfall of the company, history has proven this. Integrity is essential for your foundation of your business when company\’s are recognizing LEADERS for something they did not do or LEADERS who are excepting these rank advancements and being recognized on stage without disclosing the details, will create major issues of trust, belief, and disrespect… Ask yourself this question \”Is it deceiving the organization?\” Is Deceit a principle of weakness or strength? The Binary Compensation Plan is definitely a powerful Captalistic plan with the added benefits of the Socialistic parts of the UniLevel and Matrix but when applied incorrectly it will destroy a company and distributorships from within.. 2 types of Builders in the Industry of Network Marketing
There are 2 types of builders in Network Marketing!!!! Now and Later Builder!!!! A \”Now\” Builder is one who is consistently drawn towards pleasing activities, immediate gratification and pleasure, they are some of the greatest recruiters in the industry. They are spending money as fast as they are making it. They have a very hard time building when things get tough when momentum disappears, they end up disappearing…. Loyalty and commitment are their weaknesses. A \”Later\” Builder, on the other hand, is drawn toward pleasing RESULTS instead of pleasing ACTIVITIES. They often have less than pleasing activities in the moment. They invest their time in taking care of their health, working extra hours to accomplish a worthy goal, reading good books, taking additional training to improve their lives and their business. They hang out with people who can stretch their thinking, they themselves follow through, take action, take risks and are comfortable with being uncomfortable. Their strengths are loyalty, commitment, empathy…. When the going gets tough they get tougher this is when their leadership abilities are defined…. Which of these two groups of people do you identify with? Beware of becoming seduced by taking the easy way of the \”Now\” person. They are very prevalent in society and Network Marketing… Mastery of long term residual income comes to those who are willing to accomplish less than pleasing activities in the moment that are necessary for the attainment of a long term goal.
